How to hide or show a form field using the 'hidden' property
Category: Form Builder - Toolbox Section: Field Properties Last Updated: 2020-01-30
Purpose of the hidden property
When designing a form, it may be necessary to include fields that are hidden from the user.
For example, a user does not need to see the field that assembles a full name from the first, middle and last name fields in a personal details section. It also may not be necessary to show the user a field that captures data calculated using script, or a field that carries over data from the root form in a pop-up form.
These situations are handled simply by enabling the ‘hidden’ property on either a single field, or an entire section that the user does not need to see.
Enabling the hidden property
To enable the hidden property for a field or section, follow these steps:
Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the field you want to hide, to show its properties
In the Display tab, check the box that says ‘hidden’
Though the field or section will still be visible in the form builder, when a user accesses the form the field will be hidden. It will also be hidden in form preview mode.
If you have any trouble enabling this property, you can submit a request at the top of this page.
